The Yard Sports Development facility cage Rules and Safety Instructions
Safety is The Yard Sports Development's top priority. Your safety, our safety and the equipment safety. Have fun, but be safe!
1. No Food, Seeds, Gum, Candy, or Liquids inside the cages:
All batters must adhere to this rule as it will be strictly enforced. You may be asked to leave if it continues to occur.
2. Absolutely no Spitting:
All batters must adhere to this rule as it will be strictly enforced. You will be asked to leave if it occurs.
3. Helmet Use:
All batters must wear a batting helmet, preferably with face protection. Ensure it fits properly and the chin strap is secured.
4. Closed-Toe Shoes:
All batters and on-deck batters must wear closed-toe athletic shoes. No sandals, flip-flops, or spikes are allowed.
5. Cage Entry and Exit:
Enter and exit batting cages only when the cage is not in use. Wait for all balls to be pitched before entering or crossing.
6. Swing Zone:
Absolutly NO SWINGING OF BATS OUTSIDE OF CAGES. Barrels pointed down at all times outside of cages. Only one person is allowed in the batting area at a time. All others should remain outside the safety netting or designated waiting areas. Exception is when accompanied by a coach or gaurdian.
7. Obey Instructions:
Always follow the instructions of the batting cage operator or automated system. If lights or alarms signal an issue, stop batting immediately.
8. No Horseplay
No running, horseplay, or swinging bats outside the cages. This behavior can distract batters and cause accidents.
9. Keep Hands Clear:
Keep hands and fingers clear of the netting, cages and any mechanical parts.
10. Report Problems:
Immediately report any equipment malfunctions, loose netting, or other safety hazards to the staff.
11. No Unauthorized Adjustments:
Do not attempt to adjust the pitching machine speed or angle yourself. Ask a staff member for assistance.
12. Proper Warm-Up:
Engage in proper stretching and warm-up exercises before batting to reduce the risk of injury. Batters can warm up in an unoccupied soft-toss cage.
12. Cage Time & clean-up:
If your time is up, please gather the balls, replace to hopper and exit the cage. Take any equipment you may have checked out to the front desk. Make sure you have all your personal equipment as you exit. The Yard Sports Development is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
The Yard Cage Suggested Safety Instructions
1. Ear Plugs:
It is recommended that batters and spectators wear hearing protection.
2. Batting Gloves:
It is recommended that batters wear batting gloves to prevent blisters and improve grip.
3. Supervision Required:
Children under the age of 10 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
4. Stay Alert and know where all exits are:
Always be aware of your surroundings. Know where the building exits are. The safety lights and lighted Exits signs will light up of the building looses power. Stay calm and if it is safe to do so, exit the building. It may be safer to stay inside the building during saver storms. Look to The Yard staff members or your coaches for instructions.
5. It is your responsibility to know and acknowledge the cage rules:
All participants should acknowledge that they understand and will adhere to these rules before using the cages. If you have a question, please ask before entering the cage.
